Artist Matt Lassen Turns Popular Cartoon Characters Into Tattooed, Curly Mustached Hipsters

Hipsters are the butt of many jokes, with their skinny jeans and black-rimmed glasses, their waxed facial hair and fondness for ye olde dandy style garments—it all makes them an easy target.

And now, not only have they overtaken the indie coffee shops in your town, they've also taken the form of your fav cartoon characters too. It's enough to make you want to post them in the face for the hell of it.

You can thank illustrator Matt Lassen for that last one. A contributor to MAD Magazine, Lassen has created a series where Bart Simpson gets a curly mustache and a penny-farthing bicycle, Shaggy from Scooby-Doo gets a man bun, and Spongebob gets some cut-off denim shorts and black-rimmed glasses.

Even the Care Bears aren't safe.

“I wanted to do an homage to cartoons from my youth with a comment on society." Lassen tells Buzzfeed about the series. "I thought it would be fun to see something I love, cartoons, with something I dislike, hipsters. Hipsters try so hard to be exaggerated and over the top which are the principles of cartooning that I thought it would be a fun series."

The results of his work are pretty cool, hipster cool, maybe? Matt is definitely some kind of evil genius.
