It's the kind of trick your mind might play on you if you've been playing the latest Mortal Kombat for hours on end and then left the house and saw someone falling over.

Rather than go to their aid you'd drift off into a violent reverie, imagining the crunch of bone and tearing of ligament because your brain has been polluted by hours of grisly game play.

It also works great as a PSA to remind people to a) be careful staggering around drunk and b) just generally be careful and less idiotic, thus avoiding sustaining horrible injuries.
