Celebrities React To The News Of Donald Trump Winning The 2016 Presidential Election
So Donald Trump is going to be the next president of the USA. No doubt some people will be very happy with the outcome, but it was also a result that has caused concern and sadness among many other people, even in the celeb world. The concern took expression in protests that broke out across various cities including Philadelphia, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Oakland, New York, Chicago, Seattle, Portland and Washington DC.
Even Captain America hung his head in shame as tears of sadness slowly dropped onto his shield.
Later today Trump heads to his new home for the next four year at the White House to meet President Obama which is sure to be a slightly awkward occasion considering there's no love lost between the two.
While there they are going to talk about how the transition of Trump from president-elect to president will work and be actioned as smoothly as possible (i would love to be a fly on the wall during that conversation).
Meanwhile people on Twitter have already been reporting incidents of race hate crime. Name calling and threats, with many muslim women deciding not to wear their hijab for fear of reprisals.
Twitter (and social media) has pretty much turned into a stream of opinions on the election result, Trump's supporters are enjoying the win, while everyone else is joining in on a collective howl of anguish.
There was also a lot of celebrities taking to twitter to give their two cents, many of whom were Hillary supporters and so not very happy with the result. Armed with celeb words of wisdom for us mere mortals.
So they took to Twitter to voice their thoughts in 140 characters or less. Take a look at a few of them below.
This is an embarrassing night for America. We've let a hatemonger lead our great nation. We've let a bully set our course. I'm devastated.
Guys, the #TrumpProtests aren't "riots." They're to assure a nervous planet Earth that we'll go against him if he tries something crazy.
You know what we do now? We finish building what we started and we FIGHT BACK! Lift your heads up brothers and sisters.
If we ever thought we had the luxury of NOT living every single day of our lives as activists for peace and justice, this is a wake up call.
The positive element from all this is that we can no longer pretend that we are free of racism & sexism. The question is, what do we do now?
Go through all stages tonight. You are allowed to feel however you like. Take stock of your heart. See you tomorrow. We are all still here.

I truly cannot visualize the rambling, incoherent creature I saw at the debates now addressing the nation from the Oval Office.
Just was watching the news... maybe they'll ask me to sing 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' at the inauguration, ha!
My condolences to the President and First Lady. We will keep aiming high. We may not have you honored you this time, but we will honor you.
It's like being arrested. Dramatic at the beginning. But then you start to figure out how to live and create in prison. You'll overcome.
No more book recommendations, politics, or amusing dog pictures for the immediate future. I'm shutting down.
One more thing before I drift away for awhile: A common sign in antiques stores reading IF YOU BREAK IT, YOU OWN IT.
