Dad Makes Awesomely Cute Iron Man Costume For His Premature Baby Stuck In Hospital
Eric Hart is a prop builder, creating pieces for theatre productions and retail displays. But he recently turned his skills to creating a custom superhero costume for his infant son.
The poor little guy has been in hospital since he was born prematurely back in July, hooked up to wires in a neonatal intensive care unit. So for Halloween Hart wanted to make him a costume to "make him feel brave."
After asking the staff if it was OK he set about making a tiny Iron Man suit, scaling down a model of the outfit he found online. The idea was to try to normalise the experience of being in a hospital for months on end, and also give his son something to look back on and smile when he's older.
Once he posted the video online, thousands of other parents who have gone through similarly draining experiences at hospital sent messages of support.
"It just resonates with them of being able to find a small moment of joy during months and months of physical and spiritual exhaustion." he told Today. We think the little guy looks great.
