Adorable Photos Of Wet Dogs Prove That Canines And Water Are A Cute Combination
Most dogs hate bath time—no scrap that—ALL dogs hate bath time and capturing them at their most soggy is a photography series by Sophie Gamand. Called Wet Dogs Gamand photographs various mutts when they're at the groomers looking vulnerable and hating every minute.
While they may hate it you can't deny that they look completely adorable, even if it's an act we've forced upon them. "I chose this activity because it is a very unnatural one for the dogs, notes Gamand on her website. Yet it is a direct consequence of their cohabitation with humans."
It also allowed her to photograph a variety of expressions as the dogs stare at the camera going through a range of emotions. "Poignant looks, despair, anger and even judgment can be read into their eyes." she says.
Which points to how Gamand sees the project as about something bigger than just cute dogs. "Throughout the past millennia dogs have been subdued, manipulated genetically, trained, modified into perfect companions. Dogs are the first example of Man acting like a God towards Nature." she writes. "Are the wet dogs beckoning us the same way humanity reaches out for her own gods, asking the Almighty the reason behind their suffering? The urban dog has become a mirror to our own condition and our solitude."
That escalated quickly. Still, something to think about the next time you take your dog for bath time.
