Donald Trump Calls For Ban On Muslims Entering US, Twitter Reacts With Outrage And Humor
Donald Trump recently announced a policy he would bring in if he was elected president, a total ban on Muslims from entering the USA, which he announced prior to a rally he was holding in South Carolina saying it was the "common sense" thing to do.
Coming as tensions are high after the San Bernardino shooting, Trump played to people's fears and played on his own increasingly outrageous and outlandish proposals. The "total and complete shutdown” of the US borders to Muslim immigrants would include students and tourists.
“Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life.” Trump said.
Naturally people were dismayed and shocked and just plain disbelieving that Trump would say something so ridiculous, in a country that has been accepting immigrants of all nationalities and creeds and religions since it was formed.
Politicians, the public, and celebrities took to twitter to express their dismay not only at Trump's comments but also that they were embraced by the people who support him.
Here's some of the horror and the humor that met Trump's insane and preposterous idea.
We cannot turn against one another by letting this fight be defined as a war between America and Islam.
Welp, time to post this again. This is Arlington Cemetery. Religious diversity makes America more secure, not less.
Trump could as easily be saying "Jews" as "Muslims", if it suited him now, and it would as much delight many of his staunchest followers.
I disagree with Donald Trump's latest proposal. His habit of making offensive and outlandish statements will not bring Americans together.
I am hereby barring Donald Trump from entering St. Petersburg until we fully understand the dangerous threat posed by all Trumps.
*BREAKING*: The Onion to fold! Editors admit they can no long concoct stories more ridiculous than the actual news.
