Dubai Police Cars Include A Million Dollar Bugatti Veyron, The Fastest Police Car In The World
Not many police forces can lay claim to having a fleet of sports cars and supercars, but the Dubai police cars include a McClaren MP4, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and a Ferrari at their disposal. And, as stated in this short documentary on them by Vocativ above, they can also boast that they have the fastest police car in the world.
That supercar just happens to be a $1.6 million Bugatti Veyron which can hit 267mph and go from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds. Perfect, you might think, for high speed Michael Bay-style sports car chases involving fleeing criminals, but unfortunately that's not the purpose of these Dubai police cars at all.
Instead the police cars in Dubai are used for PR (i know, what a total waste of such horsepower), their fleet of supercars are paraded around luxury shopping malls, hotels, and the beach as a way to bridge the gap between Dubai police, the public, and tourists, breaking down the barriers and stopping people fearing the cops.
It's almost criminal.
Judging from the way people stop and gawp at these opulent Dubai supercars and eagerly snap pictures of them on their phones, it seems to be working. It's not exactly Miami Vice but it's still pretty cool i guess.
It's almost worth getting arrested and getting a ride to the police station in the fastest car in the world. Almost.
