Your Favorite Modern Day TV Shows And Films Get Reimagined With Retro VHS Cover Art
Depending on your age, you may remember heading down to the local independent VHS rental store to peruse the shelves looking for the latest releases (who still remembers Blockbuster?), which involved looking over the empty display cases and making your choice from the well-worn cases.
Wellm a French artist has been recreating modern TV shows and films—Interstellar, Breaking Bad—as VHS, which started as an April Fools joke. The artist pretended to be a Parisian hipster called "Stan" who "only has eyes for tapes, saturated color and mono sound."
Golem 13 ran a fake interview with "Stan" where they detailed how he wants to revive the VHS industry with his "vintage" VHS recorder, perfect for eating up tapes and ruining your TV-recorded copy of Ghostbusters where you even took the time to pause out the commercials.
He even jokes about launching a Kickstarter. You can read the full interview here (it's in French, so google translate it) and feel all nostalgic for the olden days by checking out the video cases, and dead media vintage video recorders, below.
And if you were wondering what the Game of Thrones intro might look like with saturated color and mono sound, take a look at the video below.
