FIFA President Sepp Blatter Resigns, Internet Reacts With Memes, Jokes, And Mocking - #BlatterOut
Sepp Blatter, Fifa's beleaguered top dog, has resigned—and this comes after he was only just reelected and said he was going to stand firm and rebuild Fifa from the ashes of the corruption scandal.
Not only has he had to put his tail between his legs and throw in the towel because everybody in Europe despises him, but the BBC are reporting that Mr Teflon is now being investigated himself by US officials in relation to all the corruption at Fifa. Surprise, surprise.
It's not been a good couple of weeks for the sport of Soccer with the smell of corruption hanging over FIFA, made even worse by the recent news of brand sponsorship of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and that around 1,000 migrant workers have died constructing stadiums for the competition, a figure that may well quadruple by the time building work is complete.
Fifa is now in turmoil, but there is now hope to repair the damage as Sepp Blatter, the Teflon Don of the soccer world, is finally leaving.
They'll be a new election to replace him at Fifa later in the year. All in all, it's not looking to be a good week for Sepp. But, what's bad news for Sepp appears to be good news for the internet.
Because as we all know, the internet loves nothing more than a juicy breaking news story, especially if it involves someone seemingly getting their comeuppance.
Here's some of the best reactions to Sepp's resignation.
Blatter has resigned. Can't quite believe it. FIFA always appeared to be such a fine upstanding organisation.
