Giant Street Art Figures Painted On Stacked Shipping Containers For A Belgium Music Festival
These awesome street art figures appeared at the Rock Werchter music festival held in Belgium at the end of June. They appeared in a part of the festival called North West Walls which features stacked shipping containers which various street artists use as a canvas for their art.
The outdoor gallery, which it basically is, was curated by Arne Quinze, a Belgian artist, who invited street artists from around the world to participate. This year it included Gamma Gallery, Fintan Magee, Smug, Pixel Pancho, Nychos, and Lula Goce.
After the festival is over the containers remain as a permanent installation until the artwork on them is renewed the following year.
Speaking about the project on his site, Quinze says he wanted to "Give the audience a taste of the world of street art. Our cities are currently full of beautiful street art. These works are often of the finest quality. In the year 2014, street artists are part of the international art circuit and find their way to the most prestigious art galleries. Yet their art remains open to the public at large, both literally and figuratively."
