'Groundhog Day' Meets 'Martial Arts' Meets 'Edge Of Tomorrow' In This Awesome Film
Even Bill Murray found it a bit of a drag reliving the same day over and over and over and over. But can you imagine what it must be like having to endure the same day knowing you're going to get punched in the face and get the crap beaten out of you again and again?
Well, wonder no more because in this short film, called 'Rope A Dope' by Eric Jacobus (an American actor and stuntman who portrayed Stryker in Mortal Kombat: Legacy season 2), a poor guy (the 'Dope'), who looks like he'd be more at home laying on the sofa, gets trapped getting into the same fight everyday on his way to get a morning coffee at the local deli.
Each time he goes out he is forced into taking on a local gang of martial art thugs in a brutal street fight until he inevitably gets knocked unconscious....and wakes up in his bed, ready to rumble all over again.
It's not a scenario any of us would like to be in but our bruised slacker hero decides there must be a way to fight back, but how does he do that when he already knows the outcome? It's only when the Dope takes his fate into his own hands, things begin to turn around.
It's really worth a look because the fight scenes are seriously well choreographed and believable (i guess it helps being a stuntman) and the added flashes of comedy are definitely a nod to the great Jackie Chan. Enjoy.
