Heavy Metal Cats: Hardcore Metal Musicians Pose With Their Fluffy Feline Pets
They may seem an unlikely pairing, but heavy metal cats are a thing. Just because these musicians like their music of the hardcore metal variety doesn't mean they don't like to come home after a hard day's RAWK and cuddle up to the cat.
In her series Metal Cats photographer Alexandra Crockett visited the home of hardcore metal band members, along with fans and promoters from the West Coast metal scene, and took pictures of them with their fluffy felines. the hairball heavy metal cats. And you have to agree that the results are 'cute'.
Not really a word that you would associate with hardcore metal musicians.
Bands include Black Goat, Lightning Swords of Death, Book of Black Earth, Cattle Decapitation, Morbid Angel, Municipal Waste, Skeletonwitch, and Napalm Death.
The images show that, behind the pentagrams and Satan worshipping showmanship, these metallers are just like everyone else in that they have a soft spot for their pets.
"I think it was best said by my friends in Skeletonwitch," Alexandra Crockett told The Independent. "'Heavy metal cats don't play by any rules, just like Metallica.' They also mentioned that any animal that shits in a box and leaves it for somebody else to take care of is pretty metal. I'd have to agree."
The book was released last year and some of the proceeds of it will go to support no-kill shelters in Seattle, Portland, Oakland and Los Angeles.
