Meet Chloé Bruce: Daisy Ridley's (Rey's) Kick-Ass Stunt Double From 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'
If you wondered where Daisy Ridley learned to do all those nifty moves with a staff her character Rey beats down stormtroopers with in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, well, she didn't. Because they were performed by British stunt double Chloe Bruce.
You can see why Bruce was chosen, because her skills with a staff are insanely good. She's super fast with a stick and super skilled at all manner of kicks too, she's just all around badass really.
The kind of badass that means she holds the Guinness World Record for most amount of kicks in a minute and sees her hold the title of World Kickboxing Association (WKA) World Champion.
She's an expert in martial arts (a Black Belt 4th Dan in Tang Soo Do) and Xtreme Martial arts, basically, along with being an accomplished gymnast.
But what really amazes people are the incredible skills she shows off using the staff in the video above, which is part of a technique known as bojutsu. “It’s such a great weapon—not too dangerous, not evil-looking—so hopefully, now that more people have seen it, there’ll be more interest.” Bruce told Vogue.
Bruce has also been a stunt double for Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, for Frigga and Sif in Thor: The Dark World, and also featured in Kick-Ass 2, World War Z, and Wrath of the Titans.
Someone get this girl her own film quick before she kicks your ass.
