Nick Offerman Plays The Narrator In Period Western Meta Comedy 'The Gunfighter'
Just having the presence of Nick Offerman in this would be enough—even if it is just his voice—but it's also a very clever short film. The Gunfighter starts like your typical Western, with a lone gunman walking into a saloon.
But then things get all meta when the omniscient voice of the narrator starts explaining the man's actions and everyone in the bar can hear it.
Filmmaker Eric Kissack fully utilises the inherent awesomeness of Offerman's voice in his role as narrator, revealing the inner thoughts of the gunman which ratchets up the tension between the characters, toying with them like an all-powerfu,l plot-driving deity.
It's a smart little device in a short that's funny, weird and full of bad language.
