NYC Stock Exchange And United Airlines Experience Glitches And Meltdown, Internet Blames Bane
It was a strange day for the USA yesterday, and specifically a bit, ever-so-slightly stressful for people like WSJ, United Airlines, and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) who all experienced weird, unexplained glitches.
It meant United had to temporarily ground all their flights while trading was halted at the NYSE for three hours.
Needless to say it caused a few problems. As one person on Twitter said. "Somewhere in an airport terminal, a stock broker flying United is having the worst day of his life."
Jeh Johnson, Homeland Security secretary, quelled fears that it was a cyberattack and that the incidences were linked (they weren't) but investigations are under way to determine what the heck happened (currently it looks like a software update may have been the cause of the glitch at the NYSE).
There's no need though, because the internet has already figured it out, hive mind sleuth that it is. And the internet looked to pop culture to find the cause. Bane (see vid above) was blamed, as was the robopocalypse.
Here's some of the funniest responses.
