'Jibbers Crabst': The Oatmeal's Matt Inman Offers Hilarious Alternative To The Theory Of Evolution
Matt Inman, who you may know from his comic The Oatmeal, recently gave a keynote address at San Francisco's BAHFest, a festival of Bad Ad Hoc hypotheses concerning evolution.
From the festival's website.
The first ever Festival of Bad Ad Hoc Hypotheses (BAH!) was held on October 6th, 2013 at MIT's Kresge Auditorium. It was the first of what we hope will be many celebrations of well-argued and thoroughly researched but completely incorrect evolutionary theory. Our brave speakers presented their bad theories in front of a live audience and a panel of judges with real science credentials, who together determined who took home the coveted sculpture of Darwin shrugging skeptically. And eternal glory, of course.
Matt Inman was invited along to give his own bad ad hoc hypothesis in which he denounces Darwin, explaining that he was wrong, and instead proposes that we are all, in fact, creations of a fire breathing lobster who lives behind Saturn's rings known as Jibbers Crabst. I, for one, welcome our new fire breathing overlord. For one, he sounds badass.
Equally as hilarious as Inman's theory is the ASL interpreter who adds some great, exaggerated visual comedy to Inman's interesting take on theism.
