Watch The Academy Awards Oscars 2016 'Best Film' Nominees Get The 'Honest Trailers' Treatment
If you were looking to swat up on the Best Film Oscar nominees but don't have the time to watch all the movies, then this Honest Trailer won't help, but it will make you laugh.
Screen Junkies' Honest Trailers series is known to pull no punches in its takedowns of popular film and TV series. So it's good to get their take on the movies vying to lift the gold statuette on Sunday.
They start with The Big Short whose subject matter is the Wall Street crash of 2008 which they admit they'd be totally outraged by, if they had any idea what was going on. Mad Max: Fury Road they call the "most badass nominee for Best Picture since...ever?" and it's hard to disagree.
They're also honest about their own agenda, as when looking at The Revenant they admit they're gearing up to do their own separate video on it, so pass it over because they want to hold onto the good jokes.
Spotlight is summed up as a “well-acted, super-depressing episode of Dateline NBC, Room becomes “F*cked Up Boyhood,” Bridge of Spies is “a competently-made, by-the-numbers drama about the Cold War that your dad definitely saw and you'll probably catch on a plane sometime” while The Martian is "Cast Away in space, so technically Gravity, but on Mars."
And then there's Brooklyn which they admit to having not seen "and neither have you" so it comes away without too much mocking.
