Superhero Sketch Of The Day: This Silver Surfer Picture Looks Like A Drawing, But It Isn't

It may surprise you to learn that the above picture isn't a drawing of the Silver Surfer, but instead is a person painted to look like the cosmic comic book character.

But it probably won't surprise you to learn that the skilled hands behind this exceptional body painting belong to a Hollywood special makeup effects artist.

Cris Alex has worked on X-Men: Days of Future Past, Tron: Legacy, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

For this body paint project she wanted to recreate Ron Lim’s cover of Silver Surfer Vol 3 Issue #20 (below).

You have to admit that the results he has achieved are totally amazing, messing with your head to make sense of it all. Proving that sometimes reality is far stranger then fiction.

So she went ahead and did just that. She explains how she did on her site:

Makeup created using PPI Skin Illustrator. Board and rock created with foam core and acrylic paints. Photographed with strong light to flatten the appearance of the body paint.
